15 Big Ones
| The Beach Boys15 Big Ones
15 Big Ones is the 20th studio album by American rock group The Beach Boys released in July 1976. It comprises cover versions of rock and roll and rhythm and blues standards, along with a few new originals. The album was met with mixed reviews, but the highest sales the band had for a new studio album in many years, peaking at number 8 on the weekly Billboard albums chart. Three singles were issued: a cover of Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" and the originals "It's O.K." and "Everyone's in Love with You". The first two charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at numbers 5 and 29, respectively, and ultimately became their only top 10 hit during the 1970s. - WIKIPEDIA

1976 - 15 Big Ones will be treasured by longstanding Beach Boys addicts, even if it confounds a new audience hungry for summer reruns.

Most of the covers are mistakes, part of a misguided attempt by the aging Beach Boys to recapture the energy of their youth. The "contemporary" production techniques and overly polished sound do nothing for these oldies, and effectively sap them of any energy they might once have had.

2000 - is a wreck of an album.

2007 - First they were The Pendletones. Then The Beach Boys. Then American Band. And here, they sound like rock's touring McDonald's. That is not the compliment.

I bet you ANYTHING this album could have been a nostalgic masterpiece. As it is, it's a nostalgic cornball.

Brian's big comeback album, and it's a disgrace.

John McFerrin Music Reviews
More than just a mediocre-to-bad album, this is an instructive album on what can happen to a band if it's not properly thinking things through.

2012 - What sets 50 Big Ones apart from the rest of the pack is the fact that it contains music from literally every period in their history.

this is hardly essential stuff. For fans only. It's good to hear Brian singing again though.
